Taste of Mexico

In Los Angeles we have had Mexican-American mayors and currently have the largest Latino population in the country, but few Angelino’s know that our city boosts the first museum dedicated to telling the story of Los Angeles' Mexican origins, and recognizing different Mexican-American contributions to the city. Today’s tour pays tribute to the complex histories and identities of Mexicans, Californians, Mexican-Americans and Chicanos: from, politicians, musicians to the 44 settlers who arrived from Mexico in 1781 to establish the city of Los Angeles. Not only will we learn fascinating Mexican/Los Angeles history on our journey will stop at 4 incredible taco stands, have a fabulous Mexican desert and visit a landmark Mexican bakery.

Taste of India
You don't have to travel to India to experience the architectural wonders of a magnificent Hindu temple. Located in Chino Hills, Ca, the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir is a traditional / spectacular Hindu place of worship in our own backyard. The Mandir is situated on a 20-acre site, complete with 91 foot lotus-shaped reflection pond, a cultural center, gymnasium and classrooms and is the largest Hindu temple and cultural center in Southern California.

Stained Glass Tour

 

This fun excursion takes us on a quest for stained glass. Stained glass is a beautiful art form, and our city has some wonderful examples. In our churches we will see elegant Tiffany glass, imported German glass from the city’s first cathedral, and locally inspired masterpieces and if that is not enough we will see Leonardo Da Vinci’s Last Supper, magnificently recreated in stained glass at Forest Lawn Glendale" The highlight of today's adventure is our visit to a working stained glass studio. On our stained glass tour we have a special lunch planned at El Portal. So great food, beauty and fun await you onthis wonderful tour.

Taste of Japan

 

“Ethnic enclaves,” such as Chinatown, Highland Park and Little Tokyo, have been a part of the diverse and multicultural history of Los Angeles from its inception. The history of these communities in many cases follows the development and history of Los Angeles. Little Tokyo in particular remains an active commercial, social, cultural, religious and historical community center with a history of 120 years in Los Angeles. Not only will we learn the rich history of little Tokyo we will also visit a beautiful Buddhist temple, the Los Angeles Flower Mart, The Japanese American Museum and have a fabulous Japanese meal.

Danish Days in L.A.

 

Solvang isn’t the only local place to get the full Danish experience! Come join us as we take you to a traditional Danish Village Church with the elegance of a small castle. Our day is guided by Pastor Anne-Grethe Krogh Nielsen, as she introduces you to Danish culture, and some of the unique Danish artifacts that the church houses. This tour will leave you feeling like an honorary Dane!

Faithfully Yours

 

Aimee Semple McPherson, sister, trailblazer, entertainer. Learn all about this remarkable women as we travel to the Foursquare Heritage Center. A docent-led tour will take us inside her famed temple, and give us a sneak peek at her controversial personal life. Lunch will be a grand buffet at one of the oldest hotels in downtown Los Angeles, followed by a stop at two of the area's most elegant houses of worship,  The ornate 'Saint Sophia's" Greek Orthodox Cathedral, and the stunning Saint Vincent DePaul church.
